Day 14 (Sarah)
Hello all!
Yesterday (July 2nd) we went to Tennoji High School's festival to help their ESS club attract new members. Apparently it worked because by the end of the day 1 girl joined the club. This was a growth of 33% since the 3-member club became 4.
During our time there our team was divided in half. Beland, Collin, Dianna and I made up 1 team and Alan, Lucy, Priscilla and Steve made up the other. In addition to this the musical half of our team, Beland and Collin, performed as the band “Shiho”, which means “singing as you go” in Japanese. It is also the name of Jun’s sweet baby girl. (If you could please continue praying for her as she is in need of medical help.) The band sang a variety of English songs from different genres, such as Christian, and pop. While this was going the girls painted nails and the guys played cards with the students. We also ate the lunch kindly provided to us by the English teacher at the school. In addition to the music, some of our team members had the chance to learn some “para para” dancing. I’m still not sure how the moves go, but it was fun watching them. We all had a good time interacting with the students as well as viewing the school festival.
After this 6 of us were invited to dinner at the Okada’s. It was delicious!! I think it might have been the best home-like meal I’ve had while I’ve been here. I’m not at all knocking any of the other food we’ve had here though, because it’s all tasted delicious to me. This meal just reminded me the most of home cooking.
We had a great time of fellowship and fun with them and their kids. Sophia is soo cute and adorable! :)
During our time with the Okada’s, Beland and Pricilla were able to have dinner, fun and fellowship with the Mortimer family.
Prayer requests:
For today that students will come even though it is very rainy today.
For the students we've been able to share with, that they might be open and curious about God.
Praise:
For the students we've been able to share the gospel with.
For the way we've been able to bond as a team.
For the time we've had here.
