Day 13 (Priscilla)
We began our day together by listening to a devotional from Alan on Psalm 82. It was good heart preparation to listen to his encouragement to us regarding wisdom in evangelism on the trip. I enjoyed hearing about his personal experience on the trip so far as well. We spent some time praying in the morning as well before the busy day would start.
Kyoto Day Trip (Arashiyama)
Today, we went to Kyoto with some Osaka Prefecture University Students to go "hiking." It turns out that it wasn't really hiking, but mostly just walking around. We had to take four trains to get to Kyoto. We visited Arashiyama ("Storm Mountain") which was very beautiful - it was a green mountain range and also had many Japanese gardens and other tourist attractions. I think one of our favorite parts was walking through a bamboo forest. It was a very fun day despite the heat and humidity. We also visited "Monkey Mountain" which was, as you might guess, a mountain full of monkeys. TIt was a 20 minute hike up a mountain to see the monkeys. Beland and I both enjoy hiking, so it was fun for us. The monkey part was just okay...they were not very cute...
Ministry to Students
About 10-15 Osaka Prefecture University students joined us for our day trip. We were very happy for such a good turnout. There were a number of students that we had never met before that decided to come. Praise the Lord for a number of good gospel conversations that happened today. We are very thankful that a number of the students were able to learn more about the gospel through speaking to members on our team. Please continue to pray for relationships to be strengthened between these students and Hamadera Bible Church, so that after our team leaves there will be a way for them to continue to learn about God.
Dinner and Team Time
After we left Kyoto, we went to Umeda to eat dinner (Umeda is kind of a trendy city with lots of shopping). We invited students to come with us, but only one decided to come (His name is Yabi. He works for a restaurant owned by a Hamadera Bible Church member. He has been spending lots of time with our team and has shown lots of interest in the gospel). We ate at a buffet-type place that was a really good price, and everybody ate a lot because it was a long day of exercise. It was a nice time with mostly our team and a couple Hamadera church members.
Once we got back from dinner, some of our team went to the onsen again (Japanese bath house). It was very relaxing and good for our muscles after all that walking.
Thanks for reading!
