On Monday, we had the opportunity to spend time with OPU students on campus as we did last week. For the beginning part of the day, the team split up, as the guys had lunch with a few of the church members at the Oumi’s house while the girls went to OPU and sat in on one of the student’s classes.
Later in the afternoon, the whole team met up and a few of the OPU students took us out to karaoke. Everyone had a chance to sing a few songs, ranging from Japanese pop songs, American songs (Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson, R Kelly, Carly Rae Jepsen, etc.), and even a song in Spanish. We all had a really good time singing and were sad when our time limit was up.
After karaoke was finished, we went with the students to a nearby all-you-can-eat yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) place. All of us had a chance to stuff our faces with as much meat as possible, and it was a good time of continued bonding with the students.
After dinner, we went back to the train station to go back to the church. On our way walking to the station, one of the students told us he had already started reading the New Testament that we gave to him just the day before at church. We were excited to hear this and would appreciate your prayers for continued fruitfulness in the ministry in the following ways:
- Pray that we would redeem every opportunity we have to talk to the students about the gospel, since our time is short here
- Pray that Christian love would be evident in our lives, as that was a strong point emphasized on Sunday’s message
