Priscilla here. Sadly, today was our last full day in Osaka. Thanks so much for all of you who are keeping up to date with us and praying for the ministry here. God has done much in and through us for the duration of our stay!
Hello friends! This is Deborah! I get to tell you about the long-awaited event that we`ve inviting the students to every time we visited schools: the BBQ lunch at Hamadera Bible Church. This was a significant part of our outreach because it was an opportunity for us to get to know the students outside of school and for them to be able to hear the gospel in Japanese.
A Sigh of Debrief
hello! its ashley :D Friday was our debreif day even though it wasnt our last day here in Japan. Time always goes by really quickly so it was good to stop and talk about how we felt about all the school visits and other ministry activities we were doing. In the morning we talked a little bit about living our lives fully for Jesus like Peter declares in John 21: 14-23. Then we had a time of prayer for the students that we got to talk to these past two weeks. Hi! It’s Tricia. J I hope you all enjoyed the little music video Beland posted. J
Wednesday July 4th and Thursday July 5th These two days were spent at Osaka Christian College, the girls junior college, which hosted the weekend camp at Tannowa. We were really excited to interact with these girls again, having spent so much time with them already. Backseat Boys- I'm Gonna Be Nobody posted anything today. So here's something for your enjoyment.
The video is titled "I'm Gonna Be, by the Backseat Boys." This is how we spend our time in car rides to school visitations... and now, introducing the Backseat Boys (in order of appearance): Aaron Bizter, Beland Huang, Timothy Jin, Brandon Jones, and Shinsuke Hashimoto. Click the link below to check out the video Tim here again. For some reason, my apostrophe key is not behaving, so forgive me for missing them.
Today we met up later... 10 am. It was really nice to get a little bit of extra rest and break time from the schedule. After a morning meeting in which we heard some encouraging words from Priscilla, sang some worship songs and prayed, we started the day off in full swing preparing some things for some people later on this week. Im being vague on purpose because this blogs audience includes some of the aforementioned. We did that all the way until about 12:15 at which time we had a great lunch prepared by the church ladies (who are all great cooks) consisting of potato salad, miso soup, some rice and grilled (?) chicken. For dessert, we had mochi balls filled with vanilla ice cream. helloo faithful friends! its ashley :D
Today we started our second week of visiting the schools. It was our second time at Sano High School. They had specifically asked us not to share the gospel with the students, and didnt even let us hand out flyers to them. Though they were strict, we are able to honor God by submitting to authority over us and not damaging the relationship that the church has established with the school. Today was a bit of an extended visit from the last time, we got to talk with a group of second year high school students structured much like last time. Konbanwa! This is Priscilla again. I`ll be writing about our second Lord`s Day in Osaka. Sundays are one of my favorite times in Japan because it`s family time with our brothers and sisters in Japan!
Hello friends!!!!! This is Deborah! I will now share with you about how Day Two of English conversation camp went, from a girl`s perspective. =)
The boys on our team had gone last night, and the girls slept over with the Osaka Christian College girls. Although “lights out” was supposed to be at 11:30, we actually stayed up past 12 watching the students do a Japanese boy band dance, playing with fireworks, and then hanging out with the Japanese students while they were painting their nails. It was very interesting to spend time with the students in the camp setting because in this fun environment, they felt comfortable acting like themselves. In observing the way they spent their free time and interacted with their friends, we came to know them better than the students we visited earlier in the week. |
