Konnichiwa!
On Tuesday, we were able to spend our time in the morning meeting talking about the character of God. Specifically, we focused on God as creator. We've learned that when we mention God to a typical Japanese student, they have an entirely different idea of who God is. If we were to tell them that "God loves you," they wouldn't understand because they would think, "Which God?" They hold to a polytheistic religion in Japan, and thus it's essential that first clarify who God is, as described in the Bible.
A helpful point to address is God as creator. In Scripture, we are able to establish that God is a creator, which leads to many implications, such as God's eternality, infinitude, power, and authority of His created beings. Due to their polytheistic religion, Japanese people have no understanding of God's authority over us. They are not accountable to God, and thus, their actions have no consequence. Our study into God's standing as creator helped fuel our own worship and realize what an awesome and powerful God we worship.
At night, we were able to spend some time talking with students from Osaka Prefecture University. We met a few of them on Sunday night during the Welcome Party, but it was good to sit down and enjoy good conversation with them. We were able to share the Gospel with a few, but mostly, we deepened our relationships with them and gained their trust more. Playing games like Apples to Apples or Jenga help us to befriend the students and show that we're in Japan to love, and care for them as much as we can.
