Today was a day spent mostly in preparation for our big dinner. We have been inviting students to come to a "real Amercian dinner" Saturday night and thus today was our shopping excursion. They actually have a Costco here so our morning was spent browsing the aisles and picking up materials for the dinner. Costco here is very similar to home. However, the samples given are uniquely Japanese. We had Sashimi, and green tea cake.
After picking up most of our items, we were still missing one main ingredient...Oreos. Our menu for tomorrow will consist of fried Oreos. If you've never experienced this, ask a teammember to make it for you when we return. Our adventures then took us to a local supermarket where they sell everything that you could ever need. The store clerks don't speak much English, but it was fun experiencing trying to communicate in the shops.
When we returned to the church there was just enough time to get in the car and head off to Momoyama college. This is a private school so it was incredibly beautiful, and of course clean too. We had the opportunity to the spend time with the English club students there. We spoke for 2 solid hours. The students seemed very interested in coming to the dinner we are hosting and possibly the other events we are having at the church. Beland and Ed even had the opportunity to share the Gospel with Ryosuke. Haruka and Ryosuke are the two students who went to dinner with us. Please be in prayer for them as we strive to share more of the Good News with them. Please be in prayer for the students coming to the dinner tomorrow night as they will be presented with the Gospel. May the Lord be glorified throughout our time here.
