whoo first full day in japan!! good stuff i tell ya... so anyways, lots of stuff went on, but first things first. we have really good timing because we arrived in japan a day before a major typhoon. a day later and we would've experienced plane problems. so yeah, God's providence. so yeah weather was pretty crazy... rain and winds @ 22km/hr.
in the morning, ray ray and i had breakfast with host mom hibino-san (hibino-san was the lady from previous years who kept putting extra food on my plate when she couldn't finish her food... ironic that she's feeding me again) and it was pretty good, though it probably wasn't the most finest of breakfast, its what i like- simple. toast, lettuce, tomato, sausage, egg, and coffee. 9:45 hit and we were out the door. 10am team meeting and ray ray did a little devotional on children and widows (focus on children because of later events). right after that, we had orientation with daisuke... went over logistic stuff, schedules and rules and stuff. we had lunch after that with some church people (mainly staff and stuff). after lunch, ray, daisuke, and i walked to the bank to do some changing of the money. it was soooooo windy, at times ray ray was going to blow off the ground. so anyways we went changed money (106 yen = 1 dollar) and came back to chuch. the guys, hyo and i had a short music practice and worked on transpose music. (oh yea LOTS of stuff to do here, prep work and stuff for upcoming events...) around 3, we went to an orphanage (this is where the devotionals in the morning come into context) to play with and minister to kids there. we played, sang, had story time and played some more. it was pretty crazy, the kids there were totally starved for attention. it was really cool to think that in just playing with the kids we were serving the "least of these" in the Bible, that we were really serving the Lord like they did in biblical times. anyways, the kids were crazy, hitting and tickling and stuff... ed especially had a lot fun brutalizing the kids ^_^. the first kid who wanted to get up on my shoulders decided that my head was fun to rub, so there went my spikes... =( but i guess its ok, cause the kid was cute. anyways during story time, we sat with the kiddies, and enjoyed the story, my kid was sooo good compared to the other kids-- mainly cause she fell asleep. oh yeah, i got the narcoleptic kid. anyways after story, we played a bit more then we went and talked with some kids playing metroid and stuff, after which beland, ray ray, soga-san and i went out to play b-ball in the super typhoon-y weather. it was fun nonetheless. we returned to the church after saying our goodbyes. its really sad to think that they don't have homes to go to, that mom and dad aren't going to be there for them. it just again floors me to think how undeserving i am to have such a loving and supportive family. thank You God, i really don't deserve it. i digress... we all went back to our respective homes for dinner, ray ray and i had dinner with hibino-san and the nishimotos. we kinda had korean bbq, but not really, cause no koreans around (other than hyo)... after dinner ray ray shared his pictures with the nihonjin, they all thought ray's picture of him and adrienne was very cute-- actually they thought that adrienne was cute, well actually beautiful, but i won't write too much more about that... adrienne doesn't need a big head now does she? the boys came over later (like close to midnight) to see if ray ray and i would come out and play. hibino-san encouraged us to go out, and gave us each 500 yen each (which came out to be about $40) and we went out to lawson's convenience store. oh yes, this is fun in japan, especially at midnight. we came back and chatted in our room and by 1am, ed and beland were getting a bit narcoleptic, so the boys went home. it was cool cause ray ray and i were DEAD tired (hahah not dead yet.) anyways, i took a shower and soaked in this neon yellow-green water (looked like anti-freeze, says ray) but hibino-san said it would help us sleep. ray ray politely refused, which i should've thought of, but i appreciated it; it was mucho relaxo. anyways, the day ended with me taking a short video of ray ray snoring... oh yes, the joys of being in japan! anyways, keep checkin back, and keep on praying for us!
peace out,
