"Though He slay me, I will hope in Him." - Job 13:15
"I care for nothing of visible or invisible things so that I may but win Christ. Let fire and the Cross, let the companies of wild beasts, let breaking of bones and tearing of limbs, let the grinding of the whole body, and all the malice of the devil, come upon me; be it so, only may I win Christ Jesus." - ignatius
It is a frightful thought to imagine dying for our God, yet I cannot imagine the call of Christ to take up our Cross and follow him to be any less than a willingness to die for the Name. We take seriously the reality of 2 Tim 3:12 and revel in the thought of honoring the Lord through persecution and even death for the glory and renown of our Savior. Let us have this mind amongst ourselves contained with a zeal so great for the glory of King Jesus, that death and suffering are considered as all joy to us. We glory in the damage we sustain wanting to know our Savior so much as to long to share in the fellowship of his sufferings. (Phil 3)
I know that in Japan we will probably not endure such hardship and trial, nor the possibility of death, but if we go with the willingness to die for our God, how sweet will the time of service be, holding nothign back but pouring ourselves out, even to utter exhaustion. Our Great God is worthy of it.
