First day of the trip, and we've already had quite an adventure. We left the apts near UCLA a lil later that we expected, but through God's sovereignty, we made it despite some traffic and luggage inspections and checkins. Praise the Lord that everything went smoothly!
On the plane, Heather was trying to open one of those hard to open sealed plastic packages with a pen. But while trying to pry the thing open, the pen snapped and sprayed blue ink all over her face, on the ceiling, and on the passengers behind her. It was our first adventure.
We had time to talk amongst our team members and get to know each other better. Also, Beland shared the gospel to some Japanese passengers sitting near us during the flight. It was really cool.
After we arrive at Konsai airport, the humid heat wave hit us, and we all broke into sweat. And on the news, we saw that a typhoon was coming too! It felt like home! Then three people from Hamadera Bible Church came to pick up us and our stuff. On the way to HBC, we saw parts of Osaka, and it was very interesting to see so much technological innovations, like bar-codes on highways that identify toll booths and recognizes the car, as well as older things like traditional Japanese houses. The residential streets were really small, but I was amazed by the cleanliness of the roads and streets. Oh ya, people drive on the left side in Japan.
Upon arriving at HBC, we were greeted by a welcoming party! There were about 30 people, mostly college students, and we had a great dinner and conversations with them. It was an exciting experience talking to the Japanese people there. After that, we went back to our host families' homes, where we will be living at for the rest of the trip. This was a very interesting and exciting day! Ok, now I have to get off the computer so Beland can upload pics! oh, it's Monday morning here right now, because I didn't get a chance to post last night. Everyone is doing well, with no signs of jetlag whatsoever...these crazy college students... =)
