hi! i guess im one of the last people to write something. its 2 days before we go! um, i am getting more and more excited, and i am glad that a few of us girls got to have dinner and pray together. it was just a good reminder to refocus on God in the midst of finals and to get to know each other better.
i am still a little nervous but im getting more and more excited. it seems kind of surreal that it's coming up so soon. it also is really amazing to see how clearly God has directed our steps to be a part of this team. looking back, i can see how its totally God who gave us this opportunity to serve and how he even graciously answered my doubts and fears. even in preparing for this trip i have grown so much and God has revealed so much more about himself to me. going along with what people are writing, i am studying romans. it is slow going, but i really like chewing on a small passage every day. its like gum. but you get more out of it the longer you chew. heehee. right now i am just reminded that its by faith alone and that we are all unworthy of our salvation. k. i really should study and pack. goodnite!

prayer requests:
-not to let the language barrier fustrate the non-speakers (like me)
-that our motives would be pure in whatever we do. remember that everything is for God's glory
-not to be ethnocentric or judgmental
-soften the hearts of people we will be sharing gospel with
-to remember the big picture, that "God triumphs for his own glory" (piper in let the nations be glad)
Out of something im reading:
"The New Testament makes clear that God has not left his Great Commission to the uncertainties of the human will. The Lord said from the beginning, "I will build my church" (Matt. 16:18). World missions is supremely the work of the risen Lord Jesus."
"There will be people who argue that the doctrine of election makes missions unnecessary. But they are wrong. It does not make missions unnecessary; it makes missions hopeful."
"It is Christ who calls in the gospel. Christ gathers his sheep in world missions. That is why there is complete assurance that they will come."
