Day 1 (by Alan)
Today is the first full day we had in Japan. Here's a brief summary/bullet points on what we did today:
Beland and Priscilla are staying at HBC
Dianna, Lucy and Sarah are staying at Takenaka-san's
Collin, Steve and myself(Alan) are staying at Aaron and Mark's, and also with a Japanese called Tsuyoshi
In the morning we mostly did administrative stuff with our team and people in HBC.
In the afternoon, we went to a huge mall in Namba. By God's grace we were able to hang out with 6 students like I have mentioned above, their names are Shigeo, Yusuke, Harabo, Hiroki, Yuichi and Yuki. They are very kind and outgoing. The whole team including Tim had a very fun and memorable time with the Japanese student. We went through the shopping mall and 100-Yen store (dollar store) with them. They brought us to a store that has a lot of Japanese Anime Figures (for those who are anime fans); it is quite interesting. On the bottom of the two floors, we saw all sorts of Cartoon/Anime figure; on the top floor we saw Japanese students with school uniforms playing card games with each other. Through out the day, we all had really good conversations with these students. They are very willing to share about their lives, so we are able to learn more about them. Also they were always asking us a lot of questions about our lives, since they are very interested in American culture and also in practicing their English. Today, I can definitely see a lot of friendships being built. We are hoping to use these friendships to draw them to church. So please pray for that.
After this exhausting yet fun trip with these Japanese students, we all went back to HBC and talked about our days and the students that we have met.
Pray request:
