Day 6 (Priscilla)
Preparing our hearts for the day's ministry
This morning, Collin gave a devotional on the life of Job. He used the time to encourage us to examine our hearts - to have the right perspective about God whatever the circumstance (in blessing or in trial) in our lives and in our ministry. It was exactly what our team needed to hear in the morning.
Ministry split up by gender
Before leaving to do college ministry, the guys and girls on our team split up.
The girls helped out with a "Gymboree" type class with moms and babies - it is an outreach program at the church for non-Christian ladies. The guys helped with the IT project that we are helping with at HBC - computer stuff that I don't understand.
College Evangelism
We went to OPU (Osaka Prefecture University) for lunch and spent time with students. There were many good conversations at lunch and after lunch while we hung out in the OPU cafeteria. Then, we went with a number of students to Osaka Castle. Osaka Castle is now a museum that has many exhibits about the history of the castle and history of Japan under the feudal system.
We walked almost non-stop from 2:30pm to 8:00pm. I think everybody's feet hurt and everybody was tired, but I am happy to say that I did not hear any complaining from our teammates. It was a great time to do site seeing and also have a shared experience with some of the students. It is nice to have a break from just sitting in the classroom conversing. I thought it was a very profitable and fun time with the college students.
An interesting story - while we were walking today, I noticed we were walking toward a large group of men in suits. The Japanese students quickly turned around to walk the other way. It turns out, it was the Japanese mafia meeting for dinner. I think some people wanted to take a picture of them, but decided against it...
Team time and fellowship
The rest of the evening was spent with our team and some Hamadera Bible Church members. We ate a late dinner and then went to the Japanese bath house together. It was a great time of fellowship and relaxation after a long day of walking.
How you can Pray
1. Praise God that everybody on our team is healthy and able to serve to their best physical ability
2. Praise God that He is growing our team closer together, as well as in a personal way to each individual team member
3. Pray for continued energy as we converse with college students. Pray souls would come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior
4. Pray for profitable fellowship time with HBC missionaries and members
