Hey everyone!
We are now in Japan! Sorry for the slow update. Thanks again for your prayer and support. We know that this trip would not be possible without your selfless giving and prayerful consideration of us. It is clear that God has been very much at work here already as we’ve been able to clearly witness His provision of everything. Yesterday was our first official day of action! The eight of us and Okada Sensei went out to meet college students from four different universities across Japan. We were able to spend almost the whole day with them, and you can pray that God will continue to provide gospel opportunities from the relationships we built yesterday. Here’s a picture below of us and the seven students we met yesterday. Also here are some more prayer requests from the team and more specifics to follow!

- Opportunities to interact with students tomorrow at OPU (Osaka Prefecture University)
- Energy to make conversations with the students
- Students’ interest to visit the church and meet Japanese Christians
Today in Japan it is Monday, and it’s around 7:30pm (4:30pm Saturday for most of you). We attended Hamadera Bible Church this morning. Fun times – more to come on that in a later blog post! I’ll try to give a brief recap of all that’s happened for Day One.
We left from America on Thursday at 1:30pm and arrived safely in Osaka around 9pm on Friday. The flight was around 11 hours. This was my first time on a plane so the whole airport/flying experience was pretty crazy. We got to eat a lot of snacks (especially Tony) and the food was oishii (yummy). Kimmie, Wes, Tae, Mike – thank you for serving us by waking up early and taking the time to drive us to the airport!

Afterwards we were met by Okada Sensei, Soga Sensei, and Oumi San at the airport and from there we were assigned to our extremely hospitable host families, treated for dinner, and driven home. We got settled and slept to get some rest for the first day. That wrapped things up for Friday night.
The following day Saturday (two days ago) was Day One. We went out with Daisuke to meet students from four different universities across Japan – Nara University, Osaka University (OU), Osaka Prefecture University (OPU), and Kyoto University. All the students were really friendly and polite. We were able to have conversations with all of them. The students are part of ESS which is an English Speaking Society? group across the universities. I got to spend most of my time with a second grade chemical engineering student from OPU named Shotaro. I’ve been taking lots of pictures of almost everything and everyone. Usually the people don’t know I’m taking pictures of them…but that’s okay.
