Tonight we had the opportunity to host American Day (night)!
We wanted to host an event for the college students we had met to come hangout with us and to visit the church. Several students from the different colleges we visited were able to come! It had been a rainy weekend and the students all had preparations for a competition coming up, so not that many showed up. However, we are truly thankful for all those that showed up.
The students arrived and we played a few games with them as we waited for dinner to be ready. Before dinner was served, we played ourJapangospel illustration video for the students and gave a brief explanation. Showing the video allowed for an easy transition into deeper conversations during dinner. Praise God for opening doors! This trip has definitely been a test of my reliance on God for the words to say and questions to ask.

Dinner tonight was spaghetti! There were many noodles and we even ran out of spaghetti sauce. Eric had the great idea of using soy sauce instead of spaghetti sauce. I tried some and it tastes exactly like it sounds: soy sauce and noodles.
After dinner, we played a few games until dessert was ready. We broke up into 3 different teams and brought out a few random props (a cardboard stick, football, hat, piñata pikachu, etc). Each team had to come up with an advertisement using all the props. They were quite entertaining.
For dessert we made crepes for the students with whatever toppings we could find inJapan. Pineapple and mandarin orange crepes! While we were eating our delicious dessert, Michael shared his testimony. He shared about his upbringing and how it related to the students. It was a great reminder for us of the saving work that God has done in each of our lives.

With all the craziness that happened today, the night went very well. I’m not entirely sure how things came together, but by God’s grace, despite our inadequacies, we were able to enjoy dinner and games with Japanese students. It was quite encouraging to see that many of the conversations tonight led to much deeper and more important topics.
Please continue to pray…
1. That the students would think more regarding the things that were talked about during dinner tonight. Perhaps it may have been the first time hearing the gospel, or one of many times. Either way, please pray that more doors would be opened for us to speak truth.
2. That the team would still be energized and fully reliant on God’s provision.
3. For the Okada family and their move back toAmerica.
4. For Oumi-san’s health and recovery after surgery
Thanks for all your prayers!
